Service Credit Union is teaming up with WMUR, WHEB and the U.S. Marine Corps to help children in need experience the joy of the holidays with the Spirit of Giving Toys for Tots Drive.
From Nov. 30 to Dec. 2, Service Credit Union will be collecting toys in all of its New Hampshire branches. Residents are encouraged to donate a new unwrapped present to help underprivileged children. Cash will also be accepted.
This year, the age groups most in need of toys are infants zero to 2 years old, and children 10 and over. The most needed toys for infants include blocks, toddler ride-on toys, learning games and tub toys. For boys 10 and older, the most needed toys are Lego sets, science kits, Nerf guns, Bluetooth speakers, head phones, drones, scooters, skateboards, cologne, handheld games, advance art sets, daily planner, and telescopes. For girls 10 and older, the list includes Lego kits, arts and crafts kits, Bluetooth speakers, head phones, scooters, advanced art kits, makeup, perfume, handbags, curling irons, nail kits and cosmetic bags.
Service Credit Union staff will be donating and collecting toys at the branches and dropping them off on Friday, November 30 at WHEB’s Toys for Tots Stuff a Bus at the Crossings in Newington, and Sunday at the Walmart on Gold Street in Manchester. All toy and cash donations will benefit children and families across the Granite State. The drive will culminate with the weekend collection from all 35 New Hampshire SCU branches being donated on Sunday at the Walmart in Manchester.
The Toys for Tots Foundation, which is celebrating 71 years, is the funding and support organization for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. Each year, the foundation relies on the generous donations from corporate partners like Service Credit Union and WMUR to help collect and deliver gifts to children. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive and patriotic citizens.
The partnership with the Marine Corps Toys for Tots expands the organizations’ already strong commitment to helping the children in the local communities.
“The holiday season is a time of giving and helping our communities. Service Credit Union is proud to play a role in collecting toys and fulfilling the holiday dreams of all New Hampshire children,” said Interim Service Credit Union President/CEO Andrew McGeorge.
