Service Credit Union Employees Give Back During Second Annual “Service Month”

PORTSMOUTH, NH (July 8, 2026) – Throughout the month of June, Service Credit Union employees participated in “Service Month,” an annual monthlong initiative where employees participate in organized volunteer opportunities with the credit union’s nonprofit partners, providing hands-on support for projects that help these organizations further their missions and create lasting community impact.

Now in its second year, the program has expanded to span 20 nonprofits and schools across New Hampshire and neighboring Vermont. A total of 150 employees volunteered, dedicating more than 450 hours to giving back. Among the organizations supported were Girls on the Run, Make-A-Wish New Hampshire, New Hampshire Food Bank, the Portsmouth Community Garden, Southeast New Hampshire Habitat for Humanity and the New Hampshire Veterans Home. Employees also facilitated Bite of Reality fairs, real-life budgeting simulations in which middle school students make housing, transportation and other lifestyle choices while staying within their given budget.

At the NH Food Bank, volunteers supported the Fresh Rescue program by sorting and categorizing food for distribution throughout the state.

"All of us at the New Hampshire Food Bank would like to thank Service Credit Union for taking the time to volunteer with us, supporting our Fresh Rescue program," said Ashley Moulton, volunteer coordinator for the New Hampshire Food Bank. "With  their help, 5,469 pounds of high-quality protein and other frozen goods were sorted and categorized to be distributed throughout the state. This hard work produced 4,557 meals for those experiencing hunger in New Hampshire. As the only food bank in the state, the New Hampshire Food Bank is a vital distributor and supplier to the hunger relief agencies that provide food to our neighbors facing food insecurity. Volunteers are a central component of the NH Food Bank's efforts to help the 1 in 9 men, women and children who do not know where their next meal is coming from.”

Service Credit Union encourages employees to support causes that matter most to them and provides opportunities throughout the year to do so. Service Month followed the credit union's Adopt A Nonprofit initiative held in May, during which each U.S. branch selected a local nonprofit to receive a $500 donation.

"Giving back has always been a core part of who we are at Service Credit Union," said Sean Hladick, Community Relations Manager at Service Credit Union. "Initiatives such as Adopt A Nonprofit and Service Month give our employees the opportunity to make a meaningful difference alongside organizations that are addressing some of our communities' greatest needs. Whether we're helping provide meals, supporting local families or teaching financial skills to students, we're proud to invest our time where it matters most."
