All members eligible to vote may make nominations for vacancies by petition; February 13th is the closing date for submitting nominations.

The Credit Union will not conduct the election by ballot and there will be no nominations from the floor when the number of nominees equals the number of open positions.

Below are the two nominations, presented by Service Credit Union’s Nominating Committee.

Nominees for Service Credit Union’s Board of Directors: 

Mark Sievewright – Mark Sievewright has served on the Service Federal Credit Union Board of Directors since 2022. With more than 30 years of financial services experience, Mark has worked directly with numerous credit unions in the successful formulation and execution of their business strategies and plans. Mark is the recipient of a number of industry awards and is a recognized industry thought-leader. Mark has led strategic consulting engagements for credit unions ranging from $250M to $53 billion in assets. He has also supported a number of credit unions on their merger-related strategies and related actions, including pre-merger planning and post-merger integration support.  

During his career, Mark has held senior leadership positions at HSBC, MasterCard International (where he led the firm’s marketing and commercial services division in Europe, Middle East and Africa), Payment Systems Inc. (where he served as CEO), TowerGroup (now part of Gartner Group, where he served as CEO) and Fiserv (where he served as vice chairman and president of the company’s Credit Union Solutions division with more than 2,000 staff serving 2,600 credit unions).  

In April 2017, Mark established Sievewright & Associates which is uniquely focused on providing credit unions with valuable strategic business insights and trusted technology guidance to drive their business growth and member experience initiatives, both effectively and efficiently. In September 2022, Sievewright & Associates was acquired by Strategic Resource Management (SRM) and now operates as an SRM company. 


Dr. James Fishbein – James Fishbein has served the Service Federal Credit Union Board of Directors since 2015. He served as Board Chair from 2020-2022. Prior to serving on the Board of Directors, Dr. Fishbein served on the Service Federal Credit Union Credit Committee from 2001 until 2004, and the Service Federal Credit Union Supervisory Committee from 2004 until 2015. He currently is also a member of the Defense Credit Union Council Military Advocacy Committee. 

Born and raised in Portsmouth, NH, Dr. Fishbein graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1978 and earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from New York University in 1981. He completed a general practice residency in dentistry at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey. Dr. Fishbein opened his private practice in Portsmouth, NH in 1986, maintaining a philosophy of providing dental care in a comfortable environment, utilizing modern technology and current treatment procedures. He retired in June 2021.  

Additionally, Dr. Fishbein has served on the board of directors of the Richie McFarland Children’s Center, the board of directors of Pro Portsmouth, and is a past member of the City of Portsmouth Traffic and Safety Committee. 


Joanne Whiting – Joanne Whiting has been a member of the Service Federal Credit Union Board of Directors since 2015. She previously served as an Associate Director for the Board of Directors beginning in 2010. She also served on the Service Credit Union Credit Committee from 2004-2005, and then was appointed to the Supervisory Committee in 2005 where she served until 2010.  

Ms. Whiting was the Executive Vice President/Chief Advocacy Officer/General Counsel of the Wisconsin Credit Union League from September 2005 until January of 2016 when she retired. Before that, Ms. Whiting was in private legal practice in Wisconsin, where she served credit unions and state and national credit union trade association clients and provided employment law advice to corporate clients. 

She received her Bachelor’s of Arts degree in English from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN, and her Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin. 


Additional Nominations by Petition: 

  • There may be nominations for directors by petition signed by at least 500 members, accompanied by a signed certificate with the nomination petition that they are agreeable to nomination and will serve if elected.  
  • One must also submit a statement of qualifications and biography with the petition, similar to the above.
